• Spend some time with The Blank Generation (Amos Poe and Ivan Král, 1976) [55 minutes]. The film is made up of music performances at CBGB’s, Max’s Kansas City, and the Chelsea Hotel. You don’t need to watch the entire thing, but spend at least 20 minutes with it.
  
• Peruse these primary source documents from the Art Workers’ Coalition (it’s a big file, so find a few things you are interested in to read carefully)
  
• Read Marvin J. Taylor, “Playing the Field: The Downtown Scene and Cultural Production, an Introduction,” in The Downtown Book: The New York Art Scene 1974-1984 (Princeton University Press, 2006)

Share one draft paragraph of your “Thinking with a Critic” paper. We will workshop these in the second half of seminar. This can be any paragraph within your paper. Please send these to me by Tuesday at 10am.
